Happy Mother’s Day

Today is Mother’s Day and I am not at home.

Why? Because I have been asked to work today.
Why? Because there is no one else to do the rounds.
Why? Because the people in charge of the ward are all away at courses and the Medical Officers will be sitting for their Part 1 exam tomorrow.
And so, I have to do the rounds today…for the 3rd day in a row.

Naturally I am not happy.
Naturally I would want to be home, celebrating this wonderful day with my family.
I’d rather be in church, where the men will make a show of appreciation for their spouses. I’ve paid RM 10 to the Men’s Fellowship’s Coffer and I have no idea what they got the wives!
I got my wife something shiny and golden. Heh heh! (I doubt RM10 can buy anything substantial…, better to have Plan B, just in case!)

Yes, I am not happy.
But my happiness has nothing to do with it..
I choose to do the rounds this weekend; simply because there is no one else to do it. It would not be fair to ask the MOs to do the rounds (if I were sitting for my exam the next day, the last thing I want to do is to do the rounds, especially in the geriatric ward!). Also, it wouldn’t be fair for the 30 odd geriatric patients staying in the hospital on this wonderful day if no doctor comes to see them.

SO….
On this wonderful day, I want to wish my Mum, my MIL and my darling wife, “HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!”. Love you all HEAPS!!!You’re the BEST!

Now, if they make me work on Father’s Day…..Grrrrrrr.
