Alcoholic Nanny?

Was surprised/shocked to see an opened can of Guiness Stout (8% alcohol, mostly malt) in my toilet last night when I reached home. Initially I thought it belonged to the nanny that my brother hired to take care of the new baby. Not a very good idea to have a drunk nanny right?

It turned out that it was my sister-in-law's idea! Apparently her side of the family has this tradition where if the baby develops heat/nappy rash, the baby is bathe in Guiness Stout! She asked if I have heard of this practice before and frankly, I have not. I suppose the logic behind this that the alcohol in the Guiness Stout acts as some kind of astringent upon the rashes. I don't know what the malt does though.

Personally, I'd rather use calomine lotion. Works just as well and the baby smells great! :-)
